Resolve-Path is an excellent cmdlet to find paths that have the same nesting level. For example, here's a really short script that creates a text file on the desktop for all users of your machine:

1. $root = Split-Path $env:USERPROFILE
   
2. Resolve-Path $root\*\Desktop |
   
3.   ForEach-Object {
   
4.     $Path = Join-Path -Path $_ -ChildPath 'hello there.txt'
   
5.     'Here is some content...' | Out-File -FilePath $Path
   
6.     Write-Warning "Creating $Path"
   
7.   }

Provided your script has Administrator privileges, it will add the file to all desktops for all users that have a user profile on your machine:

WARNING: Creating C:\Users\Administrator\Desktop\hello there.txt WARNING: Creating C:\Users\DAIC\Desktop\hello there.txt WARNING: Creating C:\Users\Guest\Desktop\hello there.txt
